Meet Jess

Like every photographer who has ever written an "about page" I am incredibly passionate about photography and I love chocolate, coffee, and wine! Woah, you too? No way!!! What a coincidence!

But in all seriousness, I fell in love with newborn and maternity photography because I love capturing the initial connection between parents and their new baby. I love seeing the first moments of a relationship and bond that will continue to deepen with each passing day. There is an excitement, and rawness, and vulnerability that is all part of the journey to parenthood, and it’s the ability to capture those feelings that attracts me to the genre. Despite my occasional (ok fine, habitual) irreverence I am in constant awe of those fleeting moments, and I want to share that sense of wonder with every family I work with.

As a mother of two, I know that motherhood is messy, chaotic, and and it's even hilarious at times, and I try to be honest about those feelings as we put together your session. We will crack a few jokes, talk about how you are feeling, both the good moments and the bad, and together we'll create images that showcase all the pieces of you that are part of your journey into parenthood.

I officially opened my business serving Fairfax and the wider Northern Virginia area back in May 2017. Since then I've dedicated my work to learning how to beautifully and safely capture all those squishy newborn details, so you will have images you can cherish long after that sweet newborn baby smell has disappeared. And so you don't end up with a bunch of images of your baby that bear a striking resemblance to Winston Churchill.

Parents typically schedule their session 6-10 days after their baby's arrival. It can seem daunting, but we work together to make sure the entire process is relaxed and stress-free. Safety is my highest priority when photographing these little ones, and I work hard to make sure that both parents and their newborns are as comfortable and secure as possible.

If you would like more information on a typical experience, please check out my Session Information page for a more detailed description of what to expect.
