The Joy & Comfort of Studio Newborn Photography: A Peek Inside My Cozy Home Studio

Deciding on the right space to have your newborn session portraits taken can feel a bit daunting. A formal studio feels cold and overwhelming, but having an at-home session means worrying about keeping your home picture ready the week after you’ve just had a baby. Luckily for everyone in Northern VA, Jessica Ryles Photography is the perfect compromise of a home studio.
My goal when converting the space to a studio was to provide a warm, comfortable, and homelike experience for both newborns and their families, while still being able to provide all the amenities of a full studio space, making it the preferred choice for newborn photography.

Amenities: More Than Just a Studio

My studio is often one of the first trips out that parents make with their little one, and it can be stressful when you are first trying to figure out all the things you might need on hand. That's why I offer a fully stocked changing station complete with diapers, wipes, and all the other baby essentials.

I also believe in the importance of caring for new parents, and creating a relaxing environment where Mom and Dad are fully taken care of. I offer complimentary professional hair and makeup services for moms to ensure you have a moment to yourself and are able to look and feel your best. And I always make sure to set out a tray with fresh fruit and pastries, along with providing complimentary beverages so that everyone has a moment to eat. The studio features a comfortable couch area for mom and dad to sit and a designated spot for makeup. Best of all, the one room layout means you're never out of sight of your baby.

Props and Backdrops: A World of Choices

One of the joys of a studio session is the variety of props and backdrops available. From rustic wooden crates to soft, fluffy blankets, I have a wide array of options to suit your style. I even offer a client closet filled with adorable outfits and hats for your newborn.

Safety First: Your Baby is in Good Hands

Safety is my top priority. All props and surfaces are sanitized before each session, and I always make sure your baby is handled with the utmost care. I let the baby dictate the pace of the session, ensuring they are comfortable and happy throughout.
